Punching bags
Punching
bags are great tools for both exercise and relieving stress. Before
you go out and buy one, though, be sure to consider first where you
might hang it. Some popular places to hang punching bags include:
· garages
· exercise rooms
· porches (if you buy a bag to use outside, be sure that you
get an indoor/outdoor punching bag that is durable and weatherproof)
· basements (especially unfinished ones)
You are going to want to be sure you hang your punching bags somewhere
where you will have enough space to move around them (both during your
workout and during daily maneuvers like getting to your car). Also,
you need to be sure that there is a little bit of space around the bags
to compensate for the bags’ height and sway.
Here is a list, more specifically, of where from you can hang your
punching bags:
· ceiling studs
· hanging beams
· the top of a door frames
· study doorway pull-up bars
· freestanding frames
· wall mounts
Before buying a punching bag, be sure that you test it out. Make sure
that it is neither too hard or too soft, nor too heavy or too light.
Make sure that it has the right amount of sway. Try out bags filled
with water, sand, and sand with foam shells – see which type suits
you best.
Bags surrounded by foam shells are best for protection. For additional
protection, use hand wraps and gloves.
